Amol is a city in northern
Iran, in the province of
Mazandaran.Amol is an old city, with it's age dating back to the
Amards. Amards were the people living in the area before
Aryans. Some believe that the city's name is rooted in the same Amard word. Amol has aroud 200 thousand population and is located on
Haraz river bank on 26°25′N 52°21′E. It is less than 20 km away south of
Caspian sea and less that 10 km away north of
Alborz mountains. It is 180 km through
Haraz road to cut through
Alborz and reach Amol from the Iranian capital,
Tehran and
Sari, the capital of
Mazandaran is only 70 km east of Amol.

summer houses in the mountaneous southern part of the greater Amol:
