Anand Bhatt (born
December 17,
1975) was mainly known as a
Grammy-recognized musical talent in
Rock and
Pop. Born in
Chicago, Anand Bhatt is one of the first
Indian Americans to break into success in the
music industry (the other two are
Tony Kanal from
No Doubt and
Kim Thayil from
Soundgarden). Having earned a reputation as a
jazz sitar player and a
heavy metal guitar player endorsing
Jackson guitars, Bhatt has branched out to an ever-growing variety of modern electric music. He plays hardcore tribal music with
Anand Clique, aggressive
industrial music with Project 44, and improvisational music in the duo A&A, which he shares with Anand Clique guitarist Ryba. A popular collaboration of Bhatt's is working with
Faith No More guitarist
Jim Martin, one of his early influences. Bhatt has also been involved with films as a composer and actor.
Holding a Master's degree from the
University of Illinois at Chicago, Bhatt is currently CEO & Executive Producer of Sonic Wave International Entertainment Group whose companies boast a vast roster of titles from multiple
genres, including the popular rapper
Knoc-turn'al. Bhatt is also a board member and directing manager of Sonic Wave America, the sub-label in the
Sony BMG distribution system.
