Andrew Mitchell

Andrew John Bower Mitchell (born 23 March 1956) is a British Conservative politician and Member of Parliament for Sutton Coldfield.

He was educated at Rugby School and graduated from Cambridge where he studied history. Andrew was the President of the Cambridge Union in 1978. He was a MP for Gedling, in Nottinghamshire between 1987 and 1997 part of which he served as a junior minister under John Major. In 2001 he was elected to become the MP for Sutton Coldfield, in Birmingham. He was made a shadow minister and later appointed to the Shadow Cabinet as Shadow Secretary of State for International Aid and Development. Andrew Mitchell is married with two children and is the son of David Mitchell, a former MP.
