Andrew Peters
Andrew Peters (born
5 May,
1980 in
St. Catharines,
Ontario,
Canada) is a Canadian
ice hockey left winger who currently plays in the
NHL for the
Buffalo Sabres as number 76. Peters was drafted 34th overall by the
Sabres in the
1998 NHL Entry Draft. Besides the NHL, Peters has also played for the Rochester Americans in the
AHL, and he has played for the
OHL's
Oshawa Generals and
Kitchener Rangers.
As a child, Andrew didn't play hockey much. He played it only because of his old brother, Geoff Peters, played it. As Andrew got older, he became better and eventually entered into professional leagues.
While on the Rochester Americans, Andrew got into an on-ice fight with his brother. Andrew has stated in interviews that he didn't know it was his brother that he was fighting. For a short time, both Andrew and Geoff played for the same team (Rochester Americans), and even worked together to score a goal, with Andrew receiving an assist, and Geoff receiving the goal. [

AHL, Peters led the league for most penalty minutes at 388.
Peters admitted in 2005 that he had used Androstenedione earlier in his career, though there were no rules against it at the time. He has stopped using it after the Food and Drug Administration banned its sale in April 2004. Peters claimed to have not taken the drug for 2 years now. [
