The title
Mirza, from
Amirzadeh, literally
son of an Emir or
Amir (
Arabic: امير), i.e.
Prince of the blood, is used by
Turkic and Mongols and other Muslim cultures under
Persian influence, as in
Mughal South Asia. The last name Baig comes from the Turkic word Beg, that comes from the old Turkish word Bey, which means military commander. Mirza [insert real name] would've probably been the title of a leading General of noble blood. It would translate to Prince [insert name] Commander of the [name of the army].
The Mughal Rulers as previously mentioned, are Muslims who came from outside South Asia. The Mongolians were invading at about the same time as the Turks. The Turks married Persians and the Mongolians met with the Turkic-Persians and married them. Creating a group called the 'Mughals'. The Mughals then conquered the majority of the
South Asia.
The Mughals brought with them not only a perfected art of war, but also poetry, the arts, and extravagant calligraphic masonry.
