Berkeley City College

Berkeley City College, formerly Vista Community College, is a community college located in Berkeley, California. The college, the fourth campus of the Peralta Community College District, opened in April, 1974 as the Peralta College for Nontraditional Study. The name was changed to Vista College in 1978, then to Vista Community College in 1987. On June 1, 2006 the name was changed again to Berkeley City College, coinciding with the completion of the college's first permanent building, located on Center Street in Downtown Berkeley. Previously, the college had been holding classes in leased space around downtown, and on the University of California, Berkeley campus.

Current enrollment as of June, 2006 is approximately 4,500 students.
