Brandesburton
Brandesburton is a village and
civil parish in the government district of
East Riding of Yorkshire, about seven miles west of
Hornsea and nine miles north-east of
Beverley. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 1348.
St Mary's Church is built out of
cobbles with a brick
clerestory and south porch. It exhibits
Norman work from the
15th century onwards, which is when the tower was built.
Brandesburton is now known for the Billabong Jet Ski centre which operates throughout the year, the Hainsworth Park Golf Club, The Burton Lodge Hotel and The Dacre Lakeside camping and Caravan Park, which make it a relatively popular holiday destination.
Remains of
mammoths and prehistoric elephant
tusks have been discovered near the village.
