Cronkhill

Cronkhill, a country house in Shropshire near Shrewsbury, was designed by John Nash about 1802A design was exhibited at the Royal Academy, 1802, as a "house near Shrewsbury" (Howard Colvin). for the second Lord Berwick, The patron was not Lord Berwick's agent and friend, Francis Walford, as reported by Colvin, for Walford was not appointed until 1804 ('Domesday Book: 1750-1875', A History of the County of Shropshire: Volume 4: Agriculture (1989), pp. 168-231. URL: http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.asp?compid=22844. Date accessed: 02 August 2006), which mentions a letter from Nash to Walford 25 March 1812, fn 29., who lived nearby at Attingham Park. The house is one of the incunabula of Italianate architecture in Great Britain.
