Dark Ages (disambiguation)

Dark Ages can refer to the following.

In historical periodization (including history of the universe):
*Dark Ages - a historiographical approach to the European Middle Ages or, applied more narrowly, to the Early Middle Ages.
*The Greek Dark Ages - the period in the history of Ancient Greece between the 12th century BC and 9th century BC from which no records, and only scant archaeological evidence, survive.
*The Dark ages of Cambodia - the period from the mid-15th century to the establishment of a protectorate under the French in 1863
*In Big Bang cosmology, the Dark Ages is a somewhat facetious nickname for the time between Recombination and Reionization.

In music:
*An album entitled dark ages by the Brazilian heavy metal group Soulfly.
*A song by the Swedish heavy metal guitarist Yngwie J. Malmsteen, from his 1986 album Trilogy.
*An EP entitled The Dark Ages by techno DJ/producer Andrea Parker.
*A German melodic death metal band called Dark Age (band)
*A song by the British rock band Jethro Tull, from their 1979 album Stormwatch.

In comics:
*In the American comics industry, Dark Age of Comic Books refers to the period from 1986 to late nineties, which followed the end of the Bronze Age of Comic Books (1970 - 1985), and previous Silver and Golden ages. It was characterized by its darker heroes and anti-heroes, and heralded by such works as Alan Moore's Watchmen and Frank Miller's Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.
