DreamWorks Records

When David Geffen sold his Geffen Records to MCA Inc. he joined Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg to form Dreamworks SKG, with subsidiary DreamWorks Records. George Michael, Randy Newman, Morphine, Eels and others signed to the new record label.

DreamWorks Records never lived up to expectations and was sold in October 2003 to Universal Music Group, which operated the label as DreamWorks Nashville Records until August 31 2005, when it was shut down. Most of Dreamworks' former artist roster was absorbed into Geffen Records at the same time, including Nelly Furtado, Papa Roach, Lifehouse and Rise Against.
