Edge of Seventeen (song)

"Edge of Seventeen" is one of Stevie Nicks' most popular songs from her highly successful debut album, Bella Donna. Released as a single in 1981, it made the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100, and the Top 5 of Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart, peaking at number four.

The song was featured in the 2003 comedy film School of Rock, which starred actor Jack Black. The song was covered by pop singer Lindsay Lohan on her sophomore album A Little More Personal (Raw). The song was also covered by Montreal's Jonas Tomalty on his debut album, Jonas.

The bass of the single was sampled in the Destiny's Child song "Bootylicious." Nicks made an appearance in the music video.

The title supposedly comes from a time when Stevie asked Tom Petty's wife when they met. His wife said, "At the age of seventeen," but she had a very strong southern accent and Stevie thought she said "the edge of seventeen" and liked the sound of the phrase.
