Edmond Honda
Edmond Honda (more commonly known as
E. Honda) is a
video game character created by
Capcom. He is part of the
Street Fighter series of
fighting games. He has black hair and wears only a blue
mawashi. Honda's signature move is the
Hundred Hand Slap.
E. Honda trained his entire life to become the greatest
sumo wrestler of all time. He received the second-highest title of
Ōzeki. (In some versions, he is incorrectly stated as having achieved the highest title,
Yokozuna.)Honda became upset that the rest of the world does not take sumo seriously, and vowed to prove that sumo wrestlers are the greatest fighters in the world. However, he has been largely unsuccessful in this endeavor.
* In
Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, he wears a
hakama instead of his "skirt."
* In the live action
Street Fighter movie, Honda is depicted as being
Hawaiian instead of
Japanese. At the end of the film, he fights
Zangief.
* In the 1993
City Hunter live action movie, an accident transformed
Jackie Chan into a number of
Street Fighter characters including E. Honda. As Chan is a spokesman for the
Honda's rival
Mitsubishi, on screen E. Honda's name is spelled "E. Honde."
* He is an acquaintance of
Ryu. In
Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, he's portrayed seemingly like an old friend of Ryu's. He wins a match against
Dhalsim, mainly because Ryu's power acted as a distraction (to the point where Dhalsim was forced to throw the fight). Honda hands Ryu half the money, feeling as though he owes it to him for the win, and exclaims that "Japanese fighters gotta stick together... 'cause we're BROTHERS
" before bursting into hearty laughter.*Street Fighter II *Street Fighter Alpha
