El Salvadoran peso

The peso was the currency of El Salvador between 1889 and 1919. It was subdivided into 100 centavos. The peso replaced the Central American Republic real at a rate of 8 reales = 1 peso and was replaced by the colón at par.

The first El Salvadoran decimal coins, issued in 1889, were 1 and 3 centavo denominations. On August 28, 1892, the Salvadoran mint was established and production of silver coins denominated in centavos and pesos began.
