Electron Blue

"Electron Blue" is a song by R.E.M. from their thirteenth studio album, Around the Sun. It was also released as a single, reaching #26 on the UK Singles Chart. The song is almost entirely composed of rhyming couplets.

Lead singer and lyricist Michael Stipe claimed at concerts that the song was inspired by a dream he had about an electric hallucinogenic drug made of light, and this idea is implied by the song's lyrics. It also inspired his current stage appearance, with a blue band painted across his eyes.
