Elm Grove, Missouri is cited in historical accounts as the site of the start of the first Oregon Trail expedition.

However it is more likely that the starting point was just across the Kansas border from Missouri at Elm Grove, Kansas in Olathe, Kansas.

There is also an Elm Grove school in Hazelwood, Missouri.
