Elton, Cheshire

Elton is a village and civil parish in Cheshire, England. It is situated approximately 13 km (8 miles) to the northeast of Chester, between Helsby and Ellesmere Port, near to the River Mersey. Its proximity to the River Mersey and the Manchester Ship Canal have contributed to its industrial character. The village is on the north-western edge of the Cheshire plain, approximately 2.5 km (1.5 miles) from the seventh largest oil refinery in Europe, which is a Shell facility. The refinery produces one-sixth of the United Kingdom's petrol.
