Enrique Wilson

Enrique Wilson Martes (born July 27, 1973 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) is a former Major League Baseball infielder. He bats switch and throws right-handed.

In his eight-season career, Wilson has played with the Cleveland Indians (1997-2000), Pittsburgh Pirates (2000-2001), New York Yankees (2001-2004), and with the Chicago Cubs (2005).

Versatile, but not valuable anywhere he plays, Wilson has had a rather uneventful career, mostly as a backup at second base, third and shortstop, playing hitters well, and has a strong arm. Wilson has some pop in his bat, and he will run occasionally, but he is smart enough not to try to steal very often.

Wilson is a career .244 hitter with 22 home runs and 141 RBI in 555 games. He was signed by the Baltimore Orioles to a minor-league contract before the 2005 season.

Wison has surprisingly very good numbers off of ace pitcher Pedro Martinez, one of the best pitchers in the game.

In 2006, Wilson plays for the Boston Red Sox's Triple A team the Paw Sox. He retired on August 2, 2006.
