Erftstadt
Erftstadt is a city comprised of several small towns in the
Rhein-Erft-Kreis,
Germany, south-west of
Cologne. It was created in
1969 when the city
Lechenich was merged with several surrounding municipalities. The name of the city derives from the river which flows through it, the
Erft. The city covers an area of 120 km², of which 70% are agricultural land, and only 10% are urban area.
