Ethnikos Dimokratikos Ellinikos Syndesmos

Ethnikos Dimokratikos Ellinikos Syndesmos (Greek Εθνικός "ημοκρατικός Ελληνικός Σύνδεσμος, "Greek National Democratic Union", abbreviated EDES) was a World War II Greek resistance movement. Its core leadership were anti-communist, Venizelist, republicans, in contrast to the larger communist-affiliated Ethnikos Laikos Apeleftherotikos Stratos (ELAS) and its sister group, the non-military Ethniko Apeleftherotiko Metopo (ΕΑΜ). An ideologically similar, but much smaller, group was the Ethniki Kai Koinoniki Apeleftherosis (EKKA). It was led by colonel Napoleon Zervas.
