Flixton, Greater Manchester



Flixton is a small town situated to the south west of the suburb of Urmston in Manchester. Some people consider Flixton to be part of Urmston although this is cause of disgreement amongst locals, much the same as Davyhulme.It is notable for having three stretches of water running through it. The River Mersey, the River Irwell and the Manchester Ship Canal.The two main amenities in Flixton are both golf courses. The William Wroe Golf Course is municipal and run on behalf of Trafford Borough Council. The Flixton Golf Club is private and the longest nine holf golf course in England.

The Liverpool to Manchester train line runs through Flixton and a boarding and alighting station is situated in Flixton Village on Flixton Road
