Four Corners (United States)

Fourcorners-us.jpg

The Four Corners region is in the red area on this map

The Four Corners Monument, placed by the Interior Department at the exact point.

The Four Corners is a region in the western United States located near the common border of four states: in clockwise order from the northwest, these are Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona. This is the only place where four U.S. states come together at one point. Their intersection is in the middle of a large Navajo reservation.

Four Corners occurs at the coordinates according to the U.S. National Geodetic Survey.

Because the Four Corners is part of a high plateau, it is often a center for weather systems, which stabilize on the plateau, then proceed eastward toward the central and mountain states. This weather system creates snow and rainfall on the central part of America.
