Indiana. As of 2000, the population was 20,511. The
county seat is
Rochester6.

Fulton County was formed in 1836. It was named for
Robert Fulton, inventor of the
steamboat.
As of the
census2 of 2000, there were 20,511 people, 8,082 households, and 5,738 families residing in the county. The
population density was 21/km² (56/mi²). There were 9,123 housing units at an average density of 10/km² (25/mi²). The racial makeup of the county was 96.21%

married couples living together, 7.50% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.00% were non-families. 24.90% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.00% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 2.99.
In the county the population was spread out with 26.00% under the age of 18, 7.70% from 18 to 24, 27.60% from 25 to 44, 23.30% from 45 to 64, and 15.40% who were 65 years of age or older.
