Heer

Heer is German for "army". Generally, it's not restricted to any particular country, so "das britische Heer" would mean "the british army". However, more specifically it can refer to:
* The German Army, the Heer - part of the Bundeswehr (or Reichswehr, or Wehrmacht during different historical periods of Germany).
* The Austrian Army, the Österreichisches Bundesheer.
* The Swiss army, the Bundesheer.
* The army of the German Confederation in the 19th century.

Other references:
* Heer Saleti, a character from the epic Punjabi love story, Heer Ranjha.
