Hiram is a village in
Portage County,
Ohio,
United States. It was formed from portions of
Hiram Township in the
Connecticut Western Reserve. The population was 1,242 at the 2000 census.

United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.4

mi²), all land.
As of the
census of 2000, there were 1,242 people, 234 households, and 147 families residing in the village. The
population density was 527.0/km² (1,367.2/mi²). There were 249 housing units at an average density of 105.6/km² (274.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 91.22%
White, 5.39%
African American, 1.45%
Asian, 0.40% from
other races, and 1.53% from two or more races.
Hispanic or
Latino of any race were 1.61% of the population.
There were 234 households out of which 33.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.3% were
married couples living together, 12.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.8% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 3.04.
In the village the population was spread out with 13.0% under the age of 18, 58.5% from 18 to 24, 15.4% from 25 to 44, 9.4% from 45 to 64, and 3.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 21 years. For every 100 females there were 92.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.8 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $45,417, and the median income for a family was $50,139. Males had a median income of $36,932 versus $25,625 for females. The
