HMS Pandora

Royal Navy have been named
HMS Pandora after the
mythological Pandora:

Pandora, launched in 1779, was a 24-gun
frigate. She was sent to capture the
Bounty mutineers in 1790.

Pandora, launched in 1859, was a
Philomel-class wooden
gunboat. She was sold in 1875.
*
Pandora, launched in 1889, was a
Pearl-class cruiser. She was renamed
Katoomba and sold in 1906.
*
Pandora, launched in 1900, was a
Pelorus-class cruiser. She was scrapped in 1913.
*
Pandora (N42), launched in 1929, was a
P-class submarine. She served in
World War II and was sunk at
Valletta,
Malta by Italian aircraft on
1 April 1942.
