Igor Kostin

Igor Kostin was one of the first photographers to take pictures of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster (Ukraine). He has taken many images, used widely around the world, which show the devastation of the accident, as well as the ongoing problems with contamination suffered by humans and animals. His photos reportedly include those of the many animals born with deformities in the Chernobyl area.

He has returned many times to take pictures of the area to bring the problems to the attention of the world. His efforts have exposed him to 5 times the acceptable level of radiation [1], and he is now suffering from illness related to this. He reportedly lives in Kiev at present day.
