Jamie Wall

Jamie Wall, a member of the Democratic Party (United States), is a businessman who is running for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. He is seeking to represent the Eighth Congressional District of Wisconsin (map). The seat is currently occupied by outgoing Republican Mark Green, who is running for state governor of Wisconsin.

History

Jamie Wall grew up on his family's dairy farm in Askeaton, south of Green Bay, as a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. (His great-great-uncle donated the land on which the church was built.) He grew up hunting and fishing with his family and neighbors.

Wall attended public high school in Wrightstown and graduated as valedictorian of his class. The first in his family to go to college, he earned an honors degree at the University of Wisconsin â€" Madison, where he served as co-president of the student government. In 1994, he became the first UW student in a generation to win a Rhodes Scholarship.

After earning a master's degree at Oxford University, Wall began his career in business, serving as a management consultant and as part of a small software start-up. He spent two years running Wisconsin's economic development programs, helping small and large businesses throughout the state create jobs. He is a founding member of the Northeast Wisconsin Economic Development Partnership. He lives in Green Bay, where he works as an independent business consultant.

His late father Jim was a dairy farmer and a prison guard. His mother JoAnn still lives just up the road from the family farm in Askeaton. He has over one hundred uncles, aunts, and cousins in Northeast Wisconsin.

Politics

In October, 2005, Representative Dave Obey (D-WI) endorsed Jamie Wall in his primary campaign for the U.S. House seat.
