John Kirwan (soccer player)

John Kirwan (born 1878 in Wicklow- died 9 January 1959) was an Irish international soccer player who played for Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea FC and Clyde. He went on to become the first paid manager of AFC Ajax of Amsterdam, from 1910-1915. He successfully managed Ajax to promotion to the highest tier in Dutch football for the first time in the club's history. He later went on to manage Italian team Livorno.
