Keicho

Keichō (慶長) was a Japanese era after Bunroku and before Genna and spanned from 1596 to 1615. Reigning emperors were Go-Yōzei and Go-Mizunoo.

Change of era

Because of various natural disasters, on the 27th day of the 10th month of Bunroku 5 (1596), the era was changed to Keichō

*Keichō Gannen (1596) Keichō Invasion (invasion of Korea)
*Keichō 2 (1597) Toyotomi Hideyoshi dies
*Keichō 5 (1600) Battle of Sekigahara
*Keichō 8 (1603) Edo Bakufu begins
*Keichō 19 (1614) Siege of Osaka
*Keichō 20 (1615) Osaka Summer Battle, downfall of Toyotomi Family
