Koufonisi, Crete

Koufonisi is a today uninhabited greek island, which is located four Kilometres south of the coast of Crete in the east of the Mediterranean Sea. The island is roughly six kilometres long and in the north-soulth-richtung up to 5.5 kilometres across. It has an entire surface area of 5.25 km².

There are still ruins of theatres and other buildings of the roman era. Aside from that Koufonisi doesn't have too many sites, expect for its own beautiful badebuchten.

During the summer the island is visited by tour boats from the 18 Kilometre north west lying south cretean port - Makrigialos.
