Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project

Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project (LERP) was launched for Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.

Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project was launched to resettle over 250,000 people that were displaced due to the construction of Lyari Expressway. These people lived along the Lyari River for generations and were forcibly removed and their houses and businesses were demolished by the government to build Lyari Expressway. These people were given land and compensation to settle in newly developed suburbs. The Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project has developed Hawke's Bay and Taiser Town to settle the displaced people.

The demolished neighborhoods along the Lyari River in most cases did not have all the utilities and were not planned construction. The new suburbs at Hawke's Bay and Taiser Town have been planned with utilities, transport, schools, parks and roads.
