Lygophilia
Lygophilia (Greek:
lyge, "
twilight") is a desire to be in dark or gloomy places .
Usually Lygophilia is not so much a disease as a choice. People who are lygophilic like to be in dark places, or travel at night. Typically the term is used in the belief of
Satanism, or gothic cultures.
Lygophilia is most commonly used for the aid of sleep, romantic technique, and deep
meditation, but the effect is short at best.
Patients who have been diagnosed as allergic to the
sunlight have developed cases of mild Lygophilia.
There is a culture called "Dark" Culture, based on the love of darkness, with basically the same beliefs as in the Old Gothic culture.
