Mantak Chia

Mantak Chia (b. 1944) is an author, teacher and self-described healer. He is known for his books and teachings on Taoism, Qi Gong and Taoist sexuality.

Born in Thailand to Chinese parents, Chia was born into a Christian family and identifies himself as Christian as an adult. Initially, he taught the methods of the "Universal Tao" in Chiang Mai, and then brought his teachings to New York, where he founded the system he has named the "Healing Dao". His teaching is not without controversy, among critics, regarding accusations that he has plagiarized (about the healing effects of different colors) in his book Cosmic Healing Two.

Among his books are "Taoist Secrets of Love," "Awaken Healing Light" and "The Inner Structure of Tai Chi: Tai Chi Chi Kung."

The Healing Tao also includes practices like Iron Shirt "Once a Martial Art, Now the Practice That Strengthens the Internal Organs, Roots Oneself Solidly, and Unifies Physical, Mental Health", and Tao Yin "Excercises for Revitalization, Health & Longevity/Energy Balance through the Tao: Exercises for Cultivating Yin Energy." The higher level of "internal alchemy" meditation involves once highly secret "water and fire" methods which are purported to set one on a path toward spiritual and (and even physical) immortality as part of the "Immortal Tao."

Chi Nei Tsang

Chia also introduced a form of abdomen massage called Chi Nei Tsang, which he teaches, helps to "clears negative emotions" (in the form of "bad winds" or "sick winds") which are purported to gather near the navel.
