Mediaset

Mediaset is the first Italian commercial television network. Mediaset has its headquarters in Milan, Lombardy. The network was founded by Silvio Berlusconi, but today it is controlled by his family through Fininvest. Many of its studios are located in Milano 2, the area of Milan that first started showing TeleMilano (known now as Canale 5). The ownership had become a source of controversy for Berlusconi, as he was both the Prime Minister of Italy and thus appointed the director of programming for RAI and the owner of the three largest and most-watched private channels in Italy.
