Milliard

Milliard is a French-derived word meaning the number 109 (one thousand million). It is unused in American English and is rare in other forms of English, though occasionally encountered, after having been replaced widely by the short scale "billion" in the English-speaking world during the 20th century.

"Milliard" is a common word to many other languages other than English, for example "miljard" in Dutch, and מיליאר" (IPA: miliɑʁd) in Modern Hebrew. For the history of the term, see long scale.
