Milliard
Milliard is a French-derived word meaning the number 10
9 (one thousand million). It is unused in
American English and is rare in other forms of English, though occasionally encountered, after having been replaced widely by the
short scale "
billion" in the English-speaking world during the 20th century.
"Milliard" is a common word to many other languages other than English, for example "miljard" in Dutch, and מיליאר" (
