Mirapuri was founded by
Michel Montecrossa - Cyberartist, Musician and Futurist on
August 15,
1978 on commission of
Mirra Alfassa - The Mother who is the spiritual companion of
Sri Aurobindo. The conception of Mirapuri was worked out by Mirra Alfassa together with
Michel Montecrossa in the years from 1969 till 1973. The aim of Mirapuri is to be a place in Europe in the size of a city where people from all over the world can live and work together, who want to practise the Integral Yoga of
Sri Aurobindo and The Mother and want to realize their Ideals of Peace, Love, Progress and Human-Unity.
There should be somewhere upon earth a place no nation could claim as its sole property, a place where all human beings of goodwill, sincere in their aspiration, could live freely as citizens of the world, obeying one single authority, that of the Supreme Truth.
