Mughalsarai

Mughalsarai, located around 10 km from Varanasi, India, is a famous railway junction of the Indian Railways. Once, it enjoyed the position of the largest railway marshalling yard of Asia. The Grand Chord section, which starts from Kolkata, West Bengal, terminates at Mughalsarai.

Lal Bahadur Shastri, Prime Minister of India during 1964-1965, was born on 2nd October, 1901 at Mughalsarai.
