North Little Rock, Arkansas

North Little Rock (Northside) is an incorporated city located across the Arkansas River from Little Rock in Pulaski County, Arkansas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 60,433, ranking it as the third most populous city in the state behind Little Rock and Fort Smith. It is home to the Arkansas Twisters of the af2 arena football league and the Arkansas RimRockers of the NBA D-League (both of which play at ALLTEL Arena), and is the future home of the Arkansas Travelers minor league baseball team. North Little Rock is also home to Burns Park, one of the largest municipal parks in the United States.

North Little Rock was once known as Argenta, a name currently applied specifically to downtown North Little Rock. Though the city was first established as North Little Rock in 1901, it dates its history from 1904, when the Arkansas Supreme Court allowed it to annex the former 8th Ward of Little Rock, also known as Argenta. It almost immediately adopted the Argenta name, but reverted to its original name in October 1917. However, North Little Rock City Hall (constructed in 1914) still contains plaques referring to "Argenta" and "C of A" (City of Argenta) ornamental designs.

The city helps form the Little Rock-North Little Rock-Pine Bluff Combined Statistical Area, which had 813,160 people in the U.S. census estimates of 2004.
