The Lake is Ideal for fishing and has many points to sit and fish. The Site also has a footpath which leads to Jack's Pond, another lake which is also often used for fishing, but unfortunately is very littered and there is a big pile of rubbish at one end of the site. It is almost impossible to access Jack's Pond in the winter, as it has flooded. Jack's pond leads onto a long footpath which leads to measham, donisthorpe, Moira and Spring Cottage. A yearly walk takes place there from Measham To Moira called the Wildflower walk to raise funds for the Local Mobility Bus. Donisthorpe currently is being transformed, as the Ashby Canal Is being built through the village. recently the village has had a mojor new facility built, the DMS working mens club which the canal is going to run right next to. The old working mens club was Demolished. Eventually the site will run through Oakthorpe too. In Oakthorpe, A street named 'canal street' resembles where the canal once ran through.
