Suketaka was the grandson of Ota Dokan, supposedly serving under Hojo Ujitsuna as the guardian of Iwabachi castle. Following the year of 1524 however, Ota Suketaka was defeated by Ujitsuna during the Battle of Takanawahara (in which was also known as the Siege of Edo. After Ujitsuna defeated Suketaka, Hojo power was expanded to the Kanto region. It is thought that Suketaka supposedly served under Ujitsuna after his defeat.
