Other Rangers and Ranger-like Allies

"Other Ranger" is an unofficial designation for several characters in the Power Rangers TV series. It is a term for a Ranger that does not fit into the usual color classifications of red, blue, yellow, black, pink, green, or white. These Rangers are often introduced later in the series, and sometimes are evil before joining the team. It is also common for Other Rangers to have slightly different costumes from their comrades, such as the addition of a shield over their torso or a slightly altered visor. All Other Rangers usually have their own Zord, a separate type from those of the five main Rangers, that can combine with the other Zords for increased power and/or transform into a single zord Megazord. The term "Sixth Ranger" can also be used to refer to "Other Rangers" (prior to Power Rangers: S.P.D., as there were additional Rangers past the sixth), as they are often an additional sixth member to the core team of five. However, many "Sixth Rangers" can be organized into the color classification schemes (such as the Green and the White Power Rangers from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers). Many of the "Other Rangers" have had the capability to best the enemies' best generals during battle. Such situations include Zhane and Ecliptor, the Magna Defender and Treacheron, Mike and Villamax/Deviot/Barbarax, and Daggeron and Koragg.

"Ranger-like Ally" is another unofficial designation for characters that have allied themselves with the Power Rangers and have powers similar to that of the Power Rangers, but have not been specifically determined to be Power Rangers themselves. Characters such as Ninjor, the Blue Senturion, and the original Magna Defender fall into this category. Ranger-like Allies often have Zords, or have the ability to transform into a larger Zord-like form.

List of Ranger-like Allies

* Ninjor was a ninja-like sage who assisted the Power Rangers in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. He is the creator of the original Power Coins, the Ninja Power Coins, the Ninjazords, and the Aquitian Rangers' Battle Borgs. He had the ability to grow to the size of the Megazords dubbed Ninjor Expansion Mode, and could also transform into a Battle Mode where he looked more like a samurai than a ninja.
** Appearance: Blue armor-like ninja gi with gold N emblem on chest. Has red accents in Battle Mode, and his various armors move to appear more samurai in appearance.
** Weapon: Katana with sheath
* Auric the Conqueror was an ancient Tiki that had laid dormant on Misterio Island until he was unlocked and assisted the Power Rangers in Power Rangers: Zeo. Tanya Sloan's parents found the tiki and sent it to their daughter. He was originally unlocked by Louie Kaboom, and was evil until the Zeo Rangers set him straight. He is usually seen as a small tiki idol with a keyhole in his face. When the Golden Key of Auric is inserted, he can transform into either a human- or Megazord-sized warrior. Auric prefers to talk situations through before resorting to violence, and has been known to revert to his statuette form whenever he got scared. When Jason Lee Scott became the Gold Ranger, Tanya chose him to be the keeper of Auric and his key. Presumably, when Jason passed on his position as the Gold Ranger back to Trey of Triforia, he, too, was made to be the keeper of Auric. Auric also likes to narrate his own victories.
** Appearance: Primarily blue robotic warrior with red, gold, and silver accents. His "cape" was actually the outer shell of his tiki form.
** Weapon: Sword
* The Blue Senturion is an intergalactic robotic police officer who aided the Rangers in Power Rangers: Turbo. His original purpose was to deliver the "Millennium Message" to the Turbo Rangers, until Divatox captured and reprogrammed him to destroy the Rangers. After he was reprogrammed again, he assisted the Rangers until going with Dimitria to help Zordon on Eltar. He took part along with the Phantom Ranger in the final battle against the United Alliance of Evil.
** Apperance: Blue robot with white head and accents; has red, yellow and blue traffic signals across his chest
** Weapons: Senturion Synergizer - Blaster/Baton Mode
** Vehicle: Senturion Cycle
** Zord/Megazord: Robo Racer
* The original Magna Defender was more of a Ranger-like ally than a Power Ranger, but his successor, Mike Corbett, was more like a Power Ranger by having a Morphing device. The Magna Defender originally plotted revenge against Scorpius for killing his son Zika, but he died helping the Lost Galaxy Power Rangers. As his final gift, he gave Mike Corbett the Magna Defender powers.
** Appearance: Black armor with a red cape and a green hexagonal emblem, helmet with bull's horns.
** Weapon: Magna Sword/Magna Blaster
** Zord: Torozord
*** Megazord: Defender Torozord
* Clare, Udonna's apprentice in Power Rangers: Mystic Force, held the powers of the Gatekeeper, the person with the magical ability to unlock the seal on the Gate to the Underworld. As the Gatekeeper, Clare donned a purple and white Arabian-style dress, and a silver tiara that her powers came from. Her powers are derived from the Moon as the Gatekeeper. She has currently used up all of the powers left in the tiara by her mother, the original Gatekeeper. Whether or not she may redevelop the powers on her own is currently unknown. She acquired her Gatekeeper abilities from her mother Niella.
** Appearance: Purple headress, white and purple dress, silver tiara
** Morpher: Gatekeeper's tiara
** Weapon: Gatekeeper's staff
** Ancient Mystic Mode: Shining Moon Warrior; silver woman with bell-like dress and purple veil
* Koragg the Knight Wolf is currently an evil wizard who works for the forces of darkness in Power Rangers: Mystic Force, however he has assisted the Mystic Force Power Rangers as they have a common foe in Imperious.
** Appearance: Purple armor with silver wolves' head-shaped shoulder pads and a gold W across his chest
** Morpher: N/A, but the magic he gave up to Imperious was turned into a purple Mystic Morpher
** Weapons: Knight Saber and the Shield of Darkness that holds the Eye of the Master.
** Ancient Mystic Mode: Leanbow; Red and purple horned warrior with a purple cape, as well as his own Sword and Shield. Looks like solid fire.
** Zord: Catastros
** Mystic Titan Form: Knight Wolf Centaur (grows to titan size and combines with Catastros to form a centaur)
*** Megazord: Centaurus Wolf Megazord
**** Note: If the events of Mystic Force parallel that of Magiranger, then Koragg will join the side of good and gain crimson-colored armor to replace his purple armor. In this case, he may be considered an "Other Ranger" alongside the Solaris Knight. His name in Mystic Force as a hero is currently unknown, and there are various theories by fans as to his Ranger name. In this form, his identity is Leanbow, the Red Mystic Wizard of legend, and he has his own Ancient Mystic Mode.

Notes

* Fandom tends to classify these Power Rangers inside the more common color designations: for example, the Quantum, Crimson, and Triassic Rangers are often included among the Red Rangers; the Navy Ranger is included as a Blue Ranger; the S.P.D. Shadow Ranger, Phantom Ranger, Magna Defender, and both Gold Zeo Rangers are considered Black Rangers; the Omega Ranger is considered to be a White Ranger; the Silver and Lunar Wolf Rangers are both Silver Rangers, and the Operation Overdrive Power Ranger based off of BoukenSilver will be, as well; Titanium and Nova are considered Gray Rangers, despite gray not being an actual designation used in the series.
** The Quantum Ranger is the only "Other Ranger" that made an appearance in the Power Rangers: Wild Force episode "Forever Red" which featured all of the Red Rangers as of Wild Force. This is due to the fact that he was the only sixth Power Ranger team member whose suit was the same color as a Ranger in the core group of five.
** Kat Ranger and Solaris Knight would perhaps be the exceptions. Kat Ranger's suit was white and orange, Solaris Knight's suit was a dark purple/indigo with metallic gold armor, neither lending themselves to an easy classification. Solaris Knight will most likely be considered a Gold Ranger, because his uniform is mostly gold, even if it is armor. The Kat Ranger will be considered the first Orange Ranger if another one turns up in a future series.
*** The Kat Ranger's counterpart in the Japanese Dekaranger, DekaSwan, was not the first person in Super Sentai to wear orange. That designation goes to Battle Cossack from Battle Fever J.
* The position of Magna Defender as a Power Ranger or Ranger-like ally is still a matter of discussion, since he lacked some features of a standard Ranger (mainly the name "Ranger"), but filled the 6th warrior position and even had his own Megazord. A similar situation exists with the Solaris Knight, but his status as a Power Ranger is clearer. With the Solaris Knight's status as a Power Ranger, the Magna Defender can also be designated as a Power Ranger in his own right.
* Before S.P.D., every "Other Ranger" had been male. Additionally, there has never been an African-American Other Ranger.
* Although Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers didn't feature a special hero/Ranger, its counterpart, Ninja Sentai Kakuranger filled it with NinjaMan, the Japanese counterpart of Ninjor. This would be turned back in Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue, which featured the Titanium Ranger when Kyukyu Sentai GoGo-V didn't feature a 6th warrior; although the Demon Hunter (first Jiku, followed by Kyoko) from the GoGo-V Movie is considered to be the series 6th member despite only appearing in the movie.
* Boom may have appeared as the S.P.D. Orange Ranger, but this was solely in his dreams and in a shoddy homemade suit in order to impress his parents.
