"Outshined" was the second track on Soundgarden's 1991 album, Badmotorfinger. Other songs on the album include "Holy Water", "Jesus Christ Pose", and "Rusty Cage".

"Outshined" was an instant favorite from Badmotorfinger, featuring a crunching opening riff and one of the most memorable and repeated Soundgarden lyrics, "I'm looking California, and feeling Minnesota." The lyric even inspired a movie called "Feeling Minnesota" in 1996, though Soundgarden is not featured on the soundtrack.

The video for "Outshined" was produced by Johnathan Dayton and Valeria Faris and is a fan favorite, yet the band themselves didn't like it. The guitar solo was also cut out to make the song shorter. The song was the song of the month in January 1997.
