Papua is:
*One of four regions within the nation of Papua New Guinea, comprising the provinces of Central, Gulf, Milne Bay, Northern Province (Oro), Western (Fly), and the National Capital District.
*Papua (Australian territory): A former Australian-administered territory comprising the southeastern quarter of the island of New Guinea, now the southern part of Papua New Guinea.
*Papua (Indonesian province): An Indonesian province comprising the western half of the island of New Guinea. Previously known as Irian Jaya, Irian Barat (West Irian) and Netherlands New Guinea.
*An unofficial name for the entire island of New Guinea.
*Papua (Ultima Online): A town in the MMORPG Ultima Online.
*Papuan, a group of non-Austronesian and non-Australian languages spoken in New Guinea and on some neigbouring islands (including some in the Solomon Islands and Indonesia).
