Pasquale Carpino

Pasquale Carpino (1936-December 30, 2005) was a popular television chef in Toronto, Ontario.

Known as the "Singing chef", Carpino was better known as "Chef Pasquale".

Arriving from Calabria, Italy with eight dollars in 1959, Carpino became a celebrity chef and a Toronto icon. His Toronto show ran in the 1970s and Pasquale's Kitchen Express was a daytime television program on the Discovery Channel from 1990-1992.His early shows continue on as re-runs on OMNI.2 in Toronto, Ontario.

Before his fame, Carpino was a chef at Toronto's Waldorf Astoria. He studied opera at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, a passion he had from Italy and carried to Canada. He also owned a restaurant in north end Etobicoke.

He died in Toronto after complications from surgery. Carpino was married to Evelina in 1964 and had two daughters, Lisa and Beatrice.
