Pepin, Wisconsin
Pepin is a village in
Pepin County,
Wisconsin,
United States. The population was 878 at the 2000 census. The village is located within the
Town of Pepin. The author
Laura Ingalls Wilder was born in the Pepin area, where her family lived. The village celebrates this every September with traditional music, craft demonstrations, a "Laura look-alike" contest, a
spelling bee, and other events. The
Little House wayside is located seven miles northwest of the village.

mi²). None of the area is covered with water.
As of the
census of 2000, there were 878 people, 381 households, and 241 families residing in the village. The
population density was 477.5/km² (1,238.1/mi²). There were 430 housing units at an average density of 233.8/km² (606.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.29%

The average household size was 2.17 and the average family size was 2.74.
In the village the population was spread out with 17.3% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 21.9% from 25 to 44, 26.2% from 45 to 64, and 28.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 48 years. For every 100 females there were 94.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.1 males.
