Pontrhydyfen

Pontrhydyfen is a village in south Wales. It is situated north of the village of Cwmafan in the Afan Valley, not far from the towns of Port Talbot and Neath. This former mining community is recognisable by two large distinctive 19th century bridges that span the valley: a viaduct('the red bridge') and an aqueduct('the grey bridge') that was built to supply water to a nearby iron works.

The village is famous for being the birth place of actor Richard Burton and songwriter Ivor Emmanuel. The Richard Burton Appreciation Society is based in the village.
