Richard Newland

Richard Newland (christened 2 March 1718 at Slindon, Sussex; died 29 May 1791 at Bath) was a noted English cricketer who played for the famous Slindon club under the patronage of Charles Lennox, 2nd Duke of Richmond.

Newland was an all-rounder who batted left-handed. Two of his brothers, Adam and John, also played for Slindon and he was an uncle of Richard Nyren.

Newland also played for various All-England teams including the famous match at the Artillery Ground in 1744.
