Ron Magers
Ron Magers is a television news anchor for
WLS, the
ABC affiliate in
Chicago. He currently anchors the station's 5 and 10 p.m. broadcasts. He is the brother of
Paul Magers a television anchor for
KCBS in Los Angeles.
He came to WLS in 1998 from
WMAQ as a 5 p.m. achor, replacing John Drury in 2002 as the 10 p.m. anchor.
Magers made national headlines when he and anchor
Carol Marin left WMAQ in 1997 in protest of the station's hiring of
Jerry Springer, who was to deliver commentary for the station.
