The SanSan megalopolis is the name for a chain of metropolitan areas in western California along the coast extending from San Francisco to San Diego. It contains a little more than 36 million people. The Greater Los Angeles area contains about two-thirds of the total population of the megalopolis. Unlike BosWash, a similarly-theorized megacity, SanSan has not yet achieved significant recognition as a "true" megalopolis.
