Section (music)

In music a section is "a complete, but not independent musical idea" (Bye 1993, p.51). Types of sections include including introduction or intro, exposition, recapitulation, verse, chorus or refrain, conclusion, coda or outro, fadeout, bridge or interlude; or a sectional form such as binary form. In sectional form the larger unit (form) is built from various smaller clear-cut units (sections) in combination, sort of like stacking legos.
